Istanbul

Istanbul, the ancient Constantinople, is the biggest city of Turkey though it's not the capital city. Its dimensions made Istanbul the fourth city in the world with more than 12 million inhabitants.
Istanbul is the only city in the world that lies on two different countries, in fact part of its territory is in Europe, and part in Asia.
In its long history Istanbul was capital of the Roman Empire, the Byzantyne Empire, the Latin Empire and finally capital of the Ottoman Empire for almost 500 years. The historical value of Istanbul has been acknowledged by the UNESCO which added the city to the list of the world heritage locations in 1985.
Visiting Istanbul is a romantic and fascinating experience, the city boasts a characteristic architecture with elements that express the several cultures that dominated the city.
The best time to visit this city is probably in spring and autumn, where climate  has not very high temperatures and a right level of humidity. Summer is hot and frequently too crowded while winter time is often too rainy for a good visiting trip.
There are a lot of interesting sites to visit such as the mosque of Hagia Sophia Built by Constantin the Great, the Blue Mosque with magnificent interior decorations of blue Iznik tiles.  Another place to visit is the Topkapi Palace, an amazing building that was the great palace of the Ottoman Sultans . More sights are the Galata tower or the Beyazit tower 85 meters high.
