Dublin
The city of Dublin, whose Gaelic name is Baile Átha Cliath is the capital of the Republic of Ireland. It is the most populated city of the Republic and the whole Irish Island which includes northern Ireland, in fact the population of the whole metropolitan area is more than 1 million people.
It was founded by the Vikings as a centre for trading slaves, set on the outfall of the river Liffey, in the middle of the eastern coast of the island.
In Dublin you can enjoy a lively night life in its hundreds pubs enjoying a cool pint of stout or have a typical Irish meal.
Temple bar, located in the heart of the city, just on a side of the river, is the best area to have a good time. Full of pubs and clubs and populated of buskers.
The main commercial street is Grafton street with many shops and restaurants, a goal for all tourists. At an end of Grafton street, the largest park of Dublin, the St. Stephen's green park, a green oasis perfect to spend a couple of hours walking or just lying on the grass and relax.
In the city centre you'll also find a certain number of theatres such as the Abbey Theatre, which is the biggest, or the Gate Theatre, the Olympia Theatre, and the Gaiety Theatre.
Dublin was made famous also by writers such as James Joyce, and today it is the main centre of culture in Ireland.
If you look for museums in Dublin you'll have the possibility to visit the National Print Museum of Ireland, or the Irish Museum of Modern Art and the National Gallery of Ireland.

The second cathedral of Dublin is St. Patrick Cathedral, built in 1255 then enlarged and refurbished several times.
