Capri

Capri is located about 30 km from Naples in the little island of Capri, its shape something like a gigantic hour glass.
The main feature of this place is the Capri climate, the softness and mildness of the atmosphere. Though it is not actually relaxing, it is neither so stimulating as the Riviera climate. The best period for those looking for peaceful is spring or fall (or in winter, if you don't mind visiting a tourist paradise when many of the hotels are closed).
Capri's natural attractions are indisputable. The island has a lot of hills, cliffs, olive groves, vineyards, and garden terraces facing the blue water of the Mediterranean sea. Naples and the volcano Vesuvius loom in the distance, with white ferries and hydrofoils crossing the bay. Explore the island on foot, and enjoy the churches, historic villas, ruins that offer wonderful sightseeing opportunities for the ambitious tourist.
Capri has two main villages: Capri town, in the eastern half of the island. A funicular ascends to the town centre from the port of Marina Grande, where the ferries and hydrofoils arrive.
Anacapri, a steep climb uphill from Capri by bus or taxi. Anacapri is at an elevation of 980 feet (299m) and is less overtly up scale than its livelier sister city. It's said to be popular with gays of a literary bent.
Because the island is not big, it's easy to be explored on foot and with the inexpensive minibuses that link the residential areas and sights.
Capri has several lovely sights, if you plan to visit the Blue Grotto, go early in the morning, before the crowds from Naples arrive and wait for a sunny day so you'll get the renowned but elusive blue effect inside the cave.
To reach Capri, you can use Ferries and hydrofoils that offer regular service fom Naples, Sorrento, and Ischia.
