The Canary Islands are an autonomous community formedby seven islands: Tenerife, La Palma, Gomera, Hierro, Gran Canaria,Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, located in the Atlantic Ocean, in frontof the north-western African coast. On these islands you can find atipical subtropical and oceanic climate. Temperatures are warm in allseasons and rain is rare, with an average annual temperature of 19ºC.
The Canary Islands are a unique place in Europe, standing out in‘sun and beach’ tourism. Moreover, few volcanic islands worldwidehave such a biological and landscape diversity like the CanaryIslands. In hardly 7500 Km² are located several habitats, fromhumid forests in Laurisilva, to subdesert dunes.
Canary art is result of continuous exterior influences, with theexception of cave paintings and recorded stones from times previousto its continental conquest. The “Ethnographic Pyramids ofGüimar”-park is a historical monument of great archaeologicalvalue where six stepped pyramids can be observed, which are objectsof archaeological studies by archaeologists from all over the world.
